Video: How She Won a 100% Scholarship to Study Abroad — Journey, Timeline and Tips

Winning a full scholarship can feel like a mystery: where do you even start, and what does the process actually look like from the inside? In this video, creator archisha sharma shares her entire journey to earning a 100% tuition scholarship to study at the University of Melbourne in Australia, from the first spark of the idea through months of research, applications, and the final result.

We are featuring this video because it answers the questions our readers ask most often: how to find scholarships, how far in advance to start, and what separates a winning application from the rest. Our key takeaways below are written in our own words.

Key takeaways

• Start with deep research, and start early. The biggest lesson is that scholarship hunting rewards researchers. Months of digging through university pages, scholarship listings, and eligibility criteria came before a single application was written.
• Build a timeline and work backwards. Mapping every deadline first, then scheduling essays, recommendation letters, and test preparation around those dates, keeps the process manageable instead of overwhelming.
• Choose your universities strategically. Rather than applying everywhere, focus on schools where your academic profile is genuinely strong and where generous funding for international students actually exists.
• Make every essay count. A clear personal story, specific study goals, and convincing reasons for choosing that university and program are what make an application memorable to reviewers.
• Stay organized and keep going. Tracking requirements in one place, tailoring each application, and applying to multiple opportunities all raise your chances significantly.
